About our DVDs & CD-ROMS
1. Will the DVD play on my DVD player?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is a DVD slideshow?
Basically, imagine a traditional slide projector show but instead of the expensive hassle of setting up a slide-projector (or converting your photographs to slides!), you simply pop your DVD into your home DVD player and you get a presentation of all your photographs on your television! Each photo will fade into the next after a few seconds (we recommend 3 seconds per photograph but you can certainly specify a longer or shorter time).
I have a mixture of slides, photographs & negatives - can they all go on a DVD slideshow?
Certainly! The first step of our process involves capturing your media (be it slides, photographs, negatives or even documents!) to a computer. Once we have captured the images, we will sequence the images into a slideshow, regardless of their original format!
How many photographs/slides/negatives can I have on a single DVD slideshow?
We recommend no more than around 400-500 photographs on a DVD slideshow. If you have more images, we recommend that you consider categorising the photographs into separate bundles and ask us to put them onto separate DVDs.
Will my photographs/slides/negatives be returned?
Of course! Your photographs are irreplaceable and we certainly treat them as such! The scanning process involves taking a very detailed "digital photograph" of your photographs and is performed only once. Please ensure you package your photographs carefully, however, as we cannot take responsibility for damage occurred in transit to us. We take care to ship our products very carefully via registered post.
My photographs are quite old & are looking worn, can you improve them?
We handle all photographs/slides/negatives with the utmost of care and use a soft brush to remove any dust particles before the scanning process. Sometimes, photographs exhibit damage from poor storage, lots of handling or fading over time. If you require, we can digitally restore most photographs depending on the amount of damage present. Please ask us if you require photo restoration and we will give you a no-obligation quote on receiving the original photo media. Exact costs vary enormously which is why we ask to see the photographs before assessing the amount of work required to perform restoration.
I already have digital photographs on CD ROM - can I send you these for my DVD slideshow?
Certainly! Simply supply these on their original CD ROM, DVD as you would your normal photographs. We will also accept a mixture of digital photographs and traditional prints for the same project.
What kind of video tapes can you convert to DVD?
We currently have facilities for capturing and converting UK VHS tapes and DV (digital) camcorder tapes. If you have any other formats, please ask - we may be able to help!
Will the DVD play on my DVD player?
If you have ordered the DVD Slideshow or tape to DVD conversion, your disk will display the "DVD" logo and is designed to be viewed on your home DVD player.
Our DVDs are produced on high-quality DVD+R media and are entirely region-free (so will play in any country). Most newer DVD players (produced in the past 5-6 years) will play our DVDs with no problems at all. Older DVD players, however, may not be able to read them. You can find out if your DVD player can read DVD+ media by looking in your instruction manual or searching for the make & model on the videohelp.com web site .
If you have problems viewing the DVD when you receive it, please contact us with the make & model of your DVD player and we will see if there is anything we can suggest to enable your DVD player to read the DVD. If all else fails, you may wish to purchase a more modern DVD player or we will always issue a full refund if you return the product to us!
